…you’ll already have a glimpse into what has been another unforgettable week here in Freedom. But as always, the photos and videos only tell part of the story. The real magic is being here.
Today began with our Friars setting off to conquer Mt. Bayle, one of my favorite hikes in the area. There is something special about reaching the summit together—sharing the views, the laughs along the trail, and that sense of accomplishment that only comes after a good climb. It’s another one of those camp moments that will be remembered long after the summer ends.
Back at camp, you could already feel the excitement building for Independence Day. Our Saxons and Scribes have begun transforming camp with handmade signs, decorations, and plenty of patriotic spirit. It’s amazing how quickly camp comes alive when the campers pour their creativity into every corner.
Meanwhile, our TPs, Jugglers, Squires, Archers, Scouts, Tumblers, Jesters, and Bows enjoyed a classic summer evening cheering on the Sanford Mainers. Between hot dogs, popcorn, slushies, and every other ballpark favorite you could imagine, it was the perfect outing. A couple of our lucky campers even came home with game balls—a souvenir they’ll be talking about for quite some time!
While Junior Camp was away, our Saxons and Scribes kept the home fires burning with our very first cookout of the summer. Good food, good friends, and plenty of laughter reminded us that some of the best memories are made during the simplest moments together.
As another day comes to a close, it’s hard not to smile when looking back on everything we’ve packed into just one day. Hikes, baseball, cookouts and campers trying new things—this is what summers at Robin Hood have been about for nearly a century.
People often say you shouldn’t wish time away, and they’re probably right. Summers here seem to pass in the blink of an eye. But I have to admit… with everything we have planned, I can’t help but be excited for the next couple days.
Until then, sleep well, and we’ll see what new adventures another Robin Hood day brings.
Goodnight from Camp Robin Hood
